Ο Φρέντος παρότι διατηρεί ερωτικό δεσμό με μια παντρεμένη γυναίκα, την Κλάρα, δεν χάνει την ευκαιρία να πολιορκήσει ερωτικά την εξαδέλφη του, με αποτέλεσμα εκείνη να υποκύψει στα χάδια του και να τον ερωτευτεί με πάθος. Οι δυο νέοι συμφωνούν να χωρίσουν από τους δεσμούς τους και να αφοσιωθούν ολόψυχα ο ένας στον άλλο, πράγμα το οποίο πολύ γρήγορα κάνουν. Ο Γιώργος από τη μεγάλη του απογοήτευση αυτοκτονεί χωρίς όμως να κατηγορήσει κανένα και η Λάουρα ξεπερνώντας τις τύψεις της απαιτεί όλο και περισσότερα τον Φρέντο, όμως εκείνος αρχίζει σταδιακά να ψυχραί-νεται και να απομακρύνεται από κοντά της. Τελικά επιστρέφει στην αρχική του ερωμένη την Κλάρα, την οποία πείθει να τον ακολουθήσει στην πρωτεύουσα εγκαταλείποντας τον άντρα της. Το σκάνδαλο είναι μεγάλο στην κοινωνία του νησιού. Αναζητώντας στην Αθήνα τα ίχνη των μοιχών, η Λάουρα, βρίσκει εύκολα το ζευγάρι σ'ένα ξενοδοχείο που ήξερε πως σύχναζε ο εξάδελφος της. Κάνει μια τελευταία απόπειρα να τον κερδίσει κι όταν εκείνος τη διώχνει περι-φρονητικά, με ένα πιστόλι σκοτώνει την Κλάρα και τον Φρέντο. Στη δίκη που ακολουθεί εξομολογείται στο δικαστήριο πως σκότωσε τρεις ανθρώπους. Ο Φρέντος παρότι διατηρεί ερωτικό δεσμό με μια παντρεμένη γυναίκα, την Κλάρα, δεν χάνει την ευκαιρία να πολιορκήσει ερωτικά την εξαδέλφη του, με αποτέλεσμα εκείνη να υποκύψει στα χάδια του και να τον ερωτευτεί με πάθος. Οι δυο νέοι συμφωνούν να χωρίσουν από τους δεσμούς τους και να αφοσιωθούν ολόψυχα ο ένας στον άλλο, πράγμα το οποίο πολύ γρήγορα κάνουν. Ο Γιώργος από τη μεγάλη του απογοήτευση αυτοκτονεί χωρίς όμως να κατηγορήσει κανένα και η Λάουρα ξεπερνώντας τις τύψεις της απαιτεί όλο και περισσότερα τον Φρέντο, όμως εκείνος αρχίζει σταδιακά να ψυχραί-νεται και να απομακρύνεται από κοντά της. Τελικά επιστρέφει στην αρχική του ερωμένη την Κλάρα, την οποία πείθει να τον ακολουθήσει στην πρωτεύουσα εγκαταλείποντας τον άντρα της. Το σκάνδαλο είναι μεγάλο στην κοινωνία του νησιού. Αναζητώντας στην Αθήνα τα ίχνη των μοιχών, η Λάουρα, βρίσκει εύκολα το ζευγάρι σ'ένα ξενοδοχείο που ήξερε πως σύχναζε ο εξάδελφος της. Κάνει μια τελευταία απόπειρα να τον κερδίσει κι όταν εκείνος τη διώχνει περι-φρονητικά, με ένα πιστόλι σκοτώνει την Κλάρα και τον Φρέντο. Στη δίκη που ακολουθεί εξομολογείται στο δικαστήριο πως σκότωσε τρεις ανθρώπους.
